MallinCam TM Color HYPER Images The MallinCam Color HYPER is capable of delivering live color images of deep sky objects onto a monitor, laptop screen or televison. Below is a album containing digital camera photographs of the screen of a 36" color television. The original observing run was made using a Meade 8" LX200 GPS with f/6.3 focal reducer. For several of the objects, a second MallinCam MFR-3 focal reducer was added to the camera, resulting in a system speed of about f/3. The camera's video output was fed into a DVD recorder and this video was being played on the television when the screen shots were taken. A tripod mounted Canon S45 digital camera set to automatic mode obtained these images.
Below are several images made by stacking 4 to 15 frames from the original DVD recording. I failed to take a dark frame during the observing session; thus none was subtracted from the stack of frames. The MallinCam Video CCD Observational System is designed for live viewing; but it can be used for making nice astro-images. M-8 at f/6.3 Using a Color HYPER in 12 Second Mode
